Demesne Farm Campsite & Granary Cottage in Bellingham, Northumberland

One late night in 1972 the local Bellingham bobby was confronted with yet another pair of Pennine Way walkers with nowhere to stay.

Instead of sending the duo to the nearest pub, this resourceful constable decided to try and negotiate a permanent solution to the lack of camping facilities in the village.

He approached the owner of The Demesne Farm and discussing the possibility of sitting a permanent camp site on one of the farms flat, grassy fields.

And so the Demesne Farm Campsite was born!

Several improvements followed in the early years including a male and female toilet and shower blocks. In 2004 a website was created and Electric hook ups installed which significantly increased bookings.

We have met many wonderful people over the years who have come to stay with us from all over the world . We also have many families who camp with us annually, some having come for over thirty years.

The campsite and cottage are a very important part of our business. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over those years and look forward to seeing some of you soon.
